I have a little post about home gardening for those that go though a harsh winter this could help you grow fresh produce during those month's.

-Elevated gardens allow for drainage of water so plants don't drown which is essiential during winter.
-Spinach, Carrots, and Cabbage are some of the plant that can survive the winter.
-plants will reach maturity before the frost if plant during summer months's.
-use mulch at 10 to 20 cm to prevent roots from freezing.
-make sure you have wind barriers.
