Off Topic?

Water preservation for day or two hikes during cold months, or high altitudes:
        Hydration Pack or Container
- Wear close to your body to reduce freezing.
- Add a small amount of alcohol 40% or higher, about 4 drops per cup (250ml) more if you don't mind yourself.
This is not good practise in cold weather but for the amount it wouldn't hurt. Now to set a good example you should only do this if you are of drinking age.
- Add acidic fruit juice such as lemon. Two reasons for this if you don't like the taste of vodka or whiskey the lemons for you, and it has the same effect as the alcohol not nearly as effective.
- Now before you tell me alcohol is thinner then water it will sit on top and the water will freeze, Let me tell you that the water should not completely fill the pack and in the case of a container it should not completely fill the pocket, This allows for the alcohol and water to bounce around together.
- Boiling water that is going to be close to your body is not so smart and not because it may burn you i'm sure you have your own precautions, it's because the heat will make you sweat then freeze later, so a solution could be to leave it in the pack on your back til it cool a bit or just warm it instead.
- Steel is a good idea for a container near your body seeing as heat tranfers though it better. If it's going to be in your pack then pick a material that tranfers tempatures less.
